WHO:                 17-year-old Zoie Noelle (née Zoie Noelle Brogdon) an influencer, equestrian and artist

“Zoie Brogdon is a quintessential representation of our purpose, as her talents are exceptional and extensive. She is a singular figure of intersectional identity, in a space of historical exclusion. As a visual artist, Zoie combines her artistry with her commitment to realizing an equitable society. Her work reflects her voice, which echoes long-ignored sentiments of our community” -- Kyle Bowser, SVP of the NAACP Hollywood Bureau.

WHAT:              In an artistic exploration of the poem, “Invictus,” by William Ernest Henley, Zoie Noelle presents her first solo art exhibit portraying the “Feeling and Emotions” of a young Black girl, forced into isolation for more than one year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. During this period of isolation and remote learning, Zoie Noelle  grappled with America’s racial reckoning, sparked by the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and other people of color at the hands of the police. In these unnerving times, the teen found solace and peace through her art. “Feelings & Emotions” is presented by NAACP Hollywood Bureau Arts, Culture & Entertainment.

With a boldness and vulnerability, “Feelings & Emotions” by Zoie Noelle features:

·       15 sketches and paintings;

·       an original poem, titled “Melanin,” which originally aired on ABC, showcasing diverse voices; and

·       an original short film, “Say His Name: a Tribute to George Floyd.”
